うんぬん【云々】

1 〔引用の末尾の省略〕 and so on [forth]; et cetera (略: etc., \&c.); …; 〔主なる語以外の省略〕 and the like; and such.

●あの夫婦は車を買う買わないうんぬんのことでもめている. That woman and her husband are bickering over whether to buy a car or not, what kind of car, when, etc., etc.

●『雪国』は国境の長いトンネルをうんぬんという書き出しで始まる. Snow Country begins with the words “The train came out of the long tunnel….”

・水不足うんぬんはさておいても, 水を無駄にしてはいけない. Even leaving aside the “there's a water shortage” bit etc., we shouldn't waste water.
